KHANQUAH (ZAWIYA FOR WORSHIP AND DHIKR)

Khanqah is a place where Sufis used to  retreat. People used to feed them and provide clothing from the endowment of the markets around, the buildings and the planted lands. In Tripoli, the khanqah gathered the religion and the war. These warriors who practice Sufi worship were the first to fight for the city in case of invasions. Today it is a place reserved for widowed and lonely women under the supervision of Al Awkaf.
