Description

Its name comes after the Vice Governor of the Sultranate, Cartay Bey. It is one of the most beautiful and majestic. Close to Al Mansouri Mosque, it has 3 beautiful entrance gates, one of them leading to Al Mansouri, as for the prayer time or rituals and preaches.   It was erected on a church ruins place (the buttress that is a Crusader remain. The entrance gate as well has some remains ). Unfortunately, some inscriptions have been removed or deleted by the time, but the main one mentions all the Ayas that promise the paradise for good believers. Three domes on  a squinches design are here, in addition to a fountain and circular windows with ornamented wood design. A tomb of Cortay Bey may be, lacks inscriptions, but the mihrab of the madrasah is a beautiful design work with standing columns ( probably from the old period). The whole structure has beautiful all around inscriptions narrating the Sultan decrees.
