HAMMAN AL ABD
Description
Hammam Al-Abd is a historic hammam with a rich cultural legacy, is a Mamluk style bath. The purpose was a hub for social gatherings and group activities, in addition hammams were used for socializing, doing business or going to cultural events.
It is made up of linked rooms with a lobby space, dressing rooms, and a central bathing area.
Hammam Al-Abd features distinctive architectural elements and ornate decorations that are a combination of many styles in town.
There is calligraphy, elaborate tile work, and ornamental arches in the changing area.
In the warm room, a large heated marble slab in the center of the room serves as a place where people would lie down to receive body treatments and massages.
The ornamental tiles, frequently with geometric patterns, floral themes, and calligraphic inscriptions, are here used on the walls, arches, and domes.
This renovation includes Roman style bathes.
